Radiohead – Live at Santa Barbara Bowl/Webcast

Posted by: benny In: Listen

We were talking today at work while watching the webcast about seeing them live. Having never been lucky enough to do it, I vowed that should they come close soon (Australia), I would somehow get there. The webcast obviously wasn’t as life changing as actually being there, but pretty cool nonetheless. Check out There There [...]

The Walkmen – In the New Year (video)

Posted by: benny In: Listen

After the dissapointment of their last album (and the silly one in-between), the new Walkmen album is getting some big reviews (including one to come from here). The opening single is beautiful and timeless – and the new video is a interesting, but I think, fitting visual representation. The Walkmen – In the New Year

I love Radiohead almost as much as I love Neil Young (or should that be the other way around?). Anyway, you can imagine how I felt when I watched this clip. Radiohead – Tell Me Why (Live at the Hollywood Bowl).

Nick’s Music Basement

Posted by: benny In: Hookups|Listen

I’m always looking for a cheap deal on CD’s; you can never have enough in the house, and they are always an appropriate gift (NIN’s The Slip for Nana? No worries!). Stumbling on to ‘Nick’s Music Basement’ was probably the nicest surprise of the month so far – there is a heap of fair priced [...]

Pretty standard fare – I like it, but appreciate that it sounds like a leftover from ‘A Weekend in The City’ (or even the Silent Alarm Remix album). Only available through MySpace at this [...]

Parts 2 and 3 of the Pitchfork Special Presentation examining Public Enemy’s landmark album are now available through Pitchfork.tv. Some great insights to ‘It Takes a Nation of Millions’ as well as other Public Enemy works from the people that gave birth to the methods and approach to hip-hop that would be the blueprint for [...]

Ra Ra Riot – Too Too Too Fast

Posted by: benny In: Listen

The second in the live series of videos promoting the ‘Rhumb Line’ features dinky ditty ‘Too Too Too Fast’. Interestingly, this was shot in a real live attic space; giving an insight to why the area is so pokey. Click the image below to go to the Stereogum vid.

Pitchfork, for all their shortcomings, has done some amazing things for new bands. Equally, they have done some amazing things for old bands – and this year, the inclusion of Sebadoh and Public Enemy in their annual music festival had me frothing at the mouth. The opportunity to see “Bubble and Scrape” and “It Takes [...]
