As well as a new EP (All the Delighted People) dropping, Sufjan reports this week that his first album in five years will be out this October.

From Stereogum:

Despite the strong narrative and biography mentioned in the press release, Asthmatic Kitty also says that the new album will have fewer biographies, historical bits, place names, etc., in the songs. They note that The Age Of Adz will instead focus on “… the personal and primal: love, sex, death, disease, illness, anxiety and suicide …” Although one of Stevens’s gifts is that he’s always been able to mix the personal and the primal with sweeping histories, biographies, and road maps.

The Age Of Adz is out 10/12 via Asthmatic Kitty. Here’s the tracklist:

01 “Futile Devices”
02 “Too Much”
03 “Age of Adz”
04 “I Walked”
05 “Now That I’m Older”
06 “Get Real Get Right”
07 “Bad Communication”
08 “Vesuvius”
09 “All for Myself”
10 “I Want To Be Well”
11 “Impossible Soul”

Sounds cool. Take in the title track for the All the Delighted People EP below, or even further below, some fabulous fruits from Sufjan’s labour ‘Come On Feel The Illinoise’.

Are Interactive videos the new step forward (don’t Record Companies know that Video didn’t kill the Radio star (the iPod did)?).

The new Arcade Fire video for “We Used To Wait” showcases the interaction between Google Maps and HTML 5 serviced imagery. thewildernessdowntown.com definitely does it’s best to conjure up some emotions (depending on how tied you are to the place you spent your childhood (and how good Google’s street view was of that street)), which should, the theory goes, perfectly accompany the Arcade Fire soundtrack.

While the older, but just as impressive video for Broken Bells’ “October” uses the heavier Flash platform to create an entertaining journey set to the tune from the self-titled debut. www.brokenbells.com/october/journeys/

Cee-Lo Green’s forthcoming album ‘The Ladykiller’ was always destined to be successful. Green’s current profile (thanks mostly in part, to the Gnarls Barkley project) has seen him supersede the reputation he built with Goodie Mob to be a fully fledged modern Soul icon.

<object width="425" height="344>

On it’s own feet, ‘Fuck You’ is a wonderful track. It drips of old school R&B, with soaring backing vocals, and a heartbreak story straight out of the classic soul playbook. So authentic is it, closing your eyes and using your imagination, you could easily picture such a track being laid down by Wilson Pickett (think ’634-5789′) or Talking Book-era Stevie Wonder.

I think it’s important to realise that the wonder of the track is not the four letter expletive that provides the tracks hook. There has been a number of tracks that have been liberal on the use of the ‘F-Bomb’ that have never had the same impact as Cee-Lo’s future soul gem.

Take D’Angelo’s classic ‘Shit, Damn, Motherfucker’. As far as R&B smoothness this goes, D’Angelo has it all; but where Cee-Lo has managed to make his track fun, D’Angelo sexes up a tune about killing his best friend and his wife. Two words. Weird. Juxtaposition.

Or maybe The Coups’s ‘Laugh, Love, Fuck’. Amazing funk track by the Bay Area Crew. Is it catchy? Check. Is it Positive? Kind of.

Or one of my favorite’s – Martha Wainwright’s ‘Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole’. The first time you hear the chorus, it almost makes your nose bleed (fine white woman should not be talking that way, let alone singing it), but as far as tunes go, it’s as tasteful as one can get.

Here he stands on his own feet – a track that displays his ability to roll something out of the top drawer that’s as smooth as eggs.
